Can I get a job at the Chinese Embassy or Consulate?

I want to work as an interpreter or translator in the embassy in Washington DC. Is this possible if I am not a Chinese citizen? I see lots of chinese working in the US embassy in Beijing and Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh.
